Hi all:
My 2002 310DA gets about .6 mpg. It holds 200 gallons. Marco Island to Key West is 100 miles +/-. Anyone have experience in a similar boat doing this trip? Suggestions?

Sorry I can't help you with the local knowledge, but I'd fix your rig before heading for the trip. You should be getting .8mpg or better. I wouldn't accept anything under .7mpg for my boat. Your boat is 1,500lb lighter and the same motors should be performing only better for your application.

On my last long trip I travelled 295NM (mixed waters, ocean and ICW) and burned 362gallons, which makes the AVG .81mpg.

We had a monterey 322 with 350 mags and ran it from Cape Coral to Key West several times. We got there with about a half a tank (Total 210 gallons). We ran at a combined 26 gallons per hour at about 35 to 40 MPH. You might check your calcs.

We made that trip a couple times in out 300DA with 5.0's easily. We were with groups doing about 20 knots so we weren't running our most efficient speed.

We also ran from KW to South Seas (Captiva) which is a longer run but cut fuel closer than we should. I think that's about 20 miles further than KW to Marco.

The .6 mpg does seem very low though........

I attempted to make the run from Sanibel to Key West a couple of years ago in a Formula 400ss. We were boating on a schedule (yes, I know not a good idea) and took off when we shouldn't have. We even tried the intercoastal for about as far as we could and ended up turning around about 35 miles from Key West. We were in about 8-10 ft seas and had taken several waves over the bow. I would do it again in a heart beat as long as the weather cooperated.

I have heard many people making that trip in calm seas and having a great time- I hope to be able to do it again soon.
