My mechanic is almost insisting that the salon's sofa, which is located partially over the port side of the port engine, needs to be removed out of the way for the manifold and riser replacement job on the port engine.

There is a hinged engine hatch that does come up somewhat over top of the port engine, but the mechanic is arguing this might not be enough.

Wondering if any aft cabin owners have gone through this and "had to" or "did not have to" remove the couch above the engine?

MY fear is not the time-dollars (though not insignificant} , but that the couch assembly might never go back the way it is now form the factory.

Many thanks for any thoughts.
