I know for cars they make a shop manual that basically tells you how to do everything to your car. I think they are called Hayes books. Anyway, is there anything out there for Mercruiser or boats in general? There is always great info on how to do things on this board, but I would like to start doing more of my own maintenance and it would be handy to have a book like that.

Excellent question! (Haynes, right?)

Yea, Haynes. I always kept a book for my 86 Mazda RX7 when I was in college.

Thanks Cooper. That is what I'm looking for. I really need to start changing my own oil, winterizing and hopefully other maintenance items.

Mercruiser sells maintenance manuals.

You'll have to identify your engine and outdrive to them for the correct manual.

I have, and have had for 22 years, a 1985 Mazda RX-7 GSL-SE.

Those things run forever, I loved mine. You have the original body style, mine was the first year of the new body style. I thought they were way ahead of their time on the design, interior and exterior. The rotary engine is also a neat design.

Call me dumb but  what is the difference in the Inboard Manual, Engine Manual, Stern Drive Manual?

and then what would the Remote control service manual be for?

Thanks

What great timming! I was going to call and get prices and order manuals today. Now I can order them over the internet. Thanks!

I'm with you Brent. The GSL-SE has the 13B engine, Posi-Track rear end, fuel injection, the heavy duty clutch and transmission, just like yours.
