I've been wanting to get a grill for the boat. I don't grill know but have brought some stuff that I can warm up on the stove. $99 seems like a good deal, but I don't know if I should spring for the Version 2 which is $120 more.

any input would be appreaciated. note is would be ued occassionally, probabbly just by me until I can get the kids and wife more into being out on the water to longer periods.

I'm not familiar with that model grill but for $99 it doesn't sound like a bad price. Just remember that the mount for it is sold seperatly @ $30 to $50 so you may want to figure this into the final price...

We paid $99 last year for a 4th of July sale at WestMarine. Use it all the time and it works great! Got the rod holder mount for it.

IS it the original style without the hinge? That's the one that I had and it worked great on the last boat.

yeah it's the original style. I'm heading out tomorrow on a 4 day getaway to Captiva Island and was thinking about buying it. So as to cook real food aboard and save on the restuarant bills....

I'm not sure if the lack of the hinge and starter button would make it a pain in the long run?

On my riverboat I have been using the cheap Wal-Mart $20 special. You should hear all the complaints from the other boats packed in the river fishing for salmon about the great smell coming from my boat! I started selling extra dogs and burgers to offset the fuel.

But now that I have moved up to the "big boats" I will have to put this on my list of things to buy. Man that list is starting to get long and $$$$$.

If you've got the money i would get the hinged. I had my old magma with the rod holder mount and couldn't keep the lid from hitting the side of the boat. Some people probably can come up with a fix for this the way it hung down, i couldn't ever figure out where to put the lid where it wouldn't burn anything.

Nah, I don't think it's worth and extra $120 or whatever.
Above is my old one aboard Nehalennia II

definitely get a grille, whether it's a hinged lid, or has a starter switch is up to you. But the grille on my boat is used multiple times a day. It will pay for itself in 1 weekend.

We have the newer one with the hinge and the starter switch. I figure we're just going to buy the grill once, so I might as well get the upgraded one. I do like both of those options, by the way.

Either way, the grill is great! Very nice to have on the boat.
