Hi everyone, I recently got a grill for my boat but the Sundeck has limited options to mount it. I did not want to drill holes in the swim platform. So I purchased the magma flush mount pole for the round magma grill. I traced the oval on swim platform with sea ray logo with holes in it and cut a piece of plywood to the same shape. I mounted the flush mount pole base to the plywood. I use two clamps to hold in in place when anchored. When we are done with the grill I remove the pole and base and stow underneath next to the factory table. So far it works great and is easy to take on and off. Thought I would share. Tried to post pics as well. Lets see if they work.

Good idea. I would coat the plywood with epoxy before using it too much. If you anchor anywhere with waves, the water will come up from the bottom and soak the wood.

But you know... The guys at Sea Ray drilled hundreds of holes in your boat already. Six more wouldn't hurt a thing if you put some 4200 in them before putting the screws in.

Thanks. I forgot mention I coated it with a exterior oil based polyurethane to make it repel water. The epoxy is a good idea. I know there are a lot of screws in the boat already. My thought was I may upgrade in a year or two and next owner may not like the grill mount or holes in the swim platform.

Here's how I did mine.
Same pole, only 6 holes that were coated with 4200.
It is a perfect setup for us, and we do a LOT of grilling.

Good idea if you don't like a permanent mount, Nice job.

Cool Idea. Did you check to see what's holding that oval into the swim platform? Only ask because I don't know, and my concern would be any torque exerted from the grill at the end of a 3 foot pole acting as a lever. On my dads 1987 sundancer, the teak platform inserts were held in with 4 screws. Hopefully something more substantial in this case.

Great Idea though.

I installed our mount under the door for the ladder. With the ladder up or down we can use the grill. It keeps the mount out of sight when not using. The only caution is to be careful using the ladder and the grill at the same time. Don't ask me how I know or where the scar on my back came from.
