The Buffalo News photographed me tying up my boat at the boat storage place for the end of the season. 44 degree weather, and I was sad to call an end to the season...

Excellent. With those clothes on, you're lucky the headline wasn't "Man tries to make away with boat thinking no one will notice 'til Spring." JK Great memory to help get you through the winter.

No, I bring it from my marina (which doesn't have winter storage), to another marina up the river which has indoor storage. They'll hoist it and bring it inside sometime this week.

Your joking, Right ?? An I/O in the water all year in Buffalo ?:smt101

Actually, because of the "ice boom" (an 8,800 foot long wooden barrier deployed every December at the mouth of the Niagara river which prevents ice from flowing down the river and damaging the water intakes for the power plants), the Niagara river doesn't freeze over in the winter, so technically you can leave a boat in the water if it's properly winterized. But I wouldn't do it, and I'm not sure if anyone does. I think the longer boats probably stay in the water, but I believe the largest boat sling in the area can only handle 60' boats.

The way he decribed it it sounded like he way tying it up for the season which, yeah for that area, didn't seem wise.

Cool Pic! Boating on the mighty Niagara is a lot of fun - even if the season is only about 5 months long. I grew up on that river in Tonawanda and Niagara Falls (even did my scuba certification right there not too far from Smith Boys in high school) and I can tell you that you probably wouldn't want your boat in the water come springtime when they pull out that ice boom. Some years, the build-up of ice behind the boom is great enough that the big ice chunks floating down river in that 10-15 MPH current will sweep away some docks and piers and cause lots of other damage.

We are getting your weather Right now, thanks! 46 degrees at the boat last night, noreaster this weekend, i think our season is done.

Congrats, Jon, A star is born. I saw that on the picture page last night. They say snow tomorrow night maybe. I'm out but not wrapped yet.

Jon, Cool picture. Looking at your album... was the arch an option in 2003? I thought it wasn't available until 2004.

It was represented as a 2003 when I bought it, but I'll grant that the broker didn't seem to be very well versed in Sea Rays and seemed a little disorganized.... How would I know if it's an '04?
