Anyone know a model number or style of macerator pump used in the 2000 Sundancer 290DA? When I turn my switch on to use the macerator pump for offshore discharge, the breaker for the macerator trips in about 1 sec. I'm assuming the pump motor is bad. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be a couple different styles. Depends on whether it came from Sea Ray that way or installed afterwards. If installed afterwards, it could still be the same thing that would have been used from the factory. In other words, the only way to know for sure is to go and look. Then test things out - could be the motor, could be the wiring (pos or neg) anywhere in between, or even the breaker, itself.

But, you could have a transfer pump that looks a lot like your vac pump, but only uses 2 duckbills (made by Dometic/Sealand). Or, it could be any number of manufacturer's versions of a macerator pump.

I'm reasonably sure it's the original pump/motor. The vacuflush head works perfectly, but the macerator side won't pump out...just trips the breaker. I guess I'm going to have to break down and call Sea Ray and see if they can give some guidance.

If you're positive it's original from the factory, then it's the first one I mentioned. The vacuflush side has nothing to do with the overboard discharge side. Take a look, then test.

Thanks a bunch. Not qualified to make those tests so will need to find a service repair facility here in central Florida to give it a look over.

You could be right that the motor is shot. But I'm not one that likes to just "throw money" at something, hoping it will fix it. I like to know why it's not working so I can (hopefully!) fix it right, the first time. The system is pretty straight forward so it shouldn't be hard to find someone to check it out for you.

Another possibility is that it is jammed/clogged - maybe that's something you can check yourself? Disassemble it and take a look.

Great advice. Thanks, Dennis
