We use a Webber BABY Q and LOVE IT !

It's still mounted on a piece of starboard with a gimbal mount that fits into a rod holder, an arrangement that worked well on the previous boat.

While it works on the 1996 450DA's single rod holder, it's not the best arrangement.

I'd much rather have it safely out on the swim platform as others have done, but would like to avoid drilling a home for another toe stubber that will collect water.

I saw this:

Removable Pedestal Side Table Mount (boatoutfitters.com)

but this is yet another heavy, bulky item to take up space and create more static weight on board.

Any other suggestions?

We have a new advertiser on the site called Transom Table. There are other implementations of this as well. I think that is where I am headed for my Catalina, and Weber 2000.
I had it on a cam mount with the tall table leg and a tripod for that. Using it on the deck at the house one night, and accidently bumped the cam. Not pretty. Can't imagine if that happened on the boat.
Here's a pic from the way back machine.....

Emphasis on the table over the locker, not the grill.

everything on the boat is a COMPROMISE !

I love the transom table idea, but if we're out on the hook for a day or three, and leave the grill out, I lose my access to the lazeratte.

Don't really want to lose that . . .

continued.....

Especially as we only grill when on the hook

and

when on the hook we use the dinghy

access to that lazerette is important

Mounting options are a big reason I still have and use a magma rectangle grill. They have a bazillion options for boats. I installed a pedestal mount on my swim platform - works great for me.

I have a Weber Q 1200 on my boat and I love it. I set mine up and take it down every time I want to use it using something similar to the Table Mount above called a Grill-A-Mount. It hooked over the bar on the lazerette, and I have a table on top so yeah you loose that while cooking.

The compromise is to just break it down when not in use.

If you end up buying a Hurley H30 they sell a kit to enable you to mount a grill pedestal to the H30 pins. Kinda slick if you're willing to suffer the pain of removing the davit to use a grill.

I am a huge fan of the Weber Q’s… I have the small one and the big one. I keep one at the dock…. But would never take the baby Q on the boat as it’s too heavy and bulky and it doesn’t contain grease/debris at all.
I would consider an alternative that’s lighter smaller and better mounting options….. instead of trying to make the Q work

Quick update

Been busy with other boat projects, put this one on the back burner till now.

Decided to go with the angle mount- it's actually made by TACO and was available at a significantly lower price on Amazon.

Will only carry the mount onboard when I'm carrying the grill.

Will trim/modify/shrink the big black starboard gimbal mount base, reducing the grills footprint.

In the event I can't fit it into the lazarette, the Baby Q grill can always go in the engine room, (hope not) secured with bungies.

Not sure yet how I'll mount the Weber Baby Q to the top of the tube, will decide that after the mount arrives.

I mounted a Magma pedestal base under the hatch that covers the stowed swim ladder. When the BBQ is not installed, the base does not interfere with the swim ladder, and there is no trip hazard. To setup the BBQ, I just open the swim ladder hatch, and insert the pedestal.

THAT would have been my choice, however my swim platform does not offer that option.

The ladder is simply mounted beneath the platform.

I also considered a mount on the swim platform surface, but decided not to compromise dinghy storage
