I was wondering if any of you have replaced your cockpit upohlstery on a boat similar to mine? I am about to get mine back from the upohlstery shop and was wondering how to get access to the screws holding the cockpit lounge seat on the port side in place. The removal was easy enough by just pulling it off since the plywood was soft. However the screws fastening it obviously are screwed upward from the aft berth's ceiling below somehow. Therefore the headliner needs to come out somehow. After some exploration, it seems the headliner is stapled to the ceiling and I don't see how to re-attach the headliner after screwing down the seat base besides putting new screws through the headliner to hold it up. Is there a better way? I don't want to pull out this stapled headliner if there is some other way. Thanks for any help in advance.

I think I found the answer to this in another thread. I'm going to attempt to cut the existing seat base screws off, seal the holes with silicone and use velcro on the seat base to make it easily removable for storage or cleaning. No need for headliner surgery with this option. I'll post pics after the install to let yall know how it goes. Still waiting to get the cushions back from the shop right now though.

I had a 95 270 Sundancer that I sold a few months back. Had an upholstery guy replace some backer boards and vinyl. As said above, he just cut the screws and filled the holes with marine silicone. The new lounge cushion was made to attach with heavy velcro. Worked great!

My winter project is upholstery and I really like this option with the velcro! You have any pics of your finished seats? What material was used?
