I have a 2012 205 Sport, 5.0 Mercruiser fuel injection, 66 hours. I started getting a loud whine coming from the back or bottom of the engine, grabbed the fuel line and it was pulsating, similar to the odd whine, made me feel like they were connected. Then it shut down, will not even turn over. When I turn the key to start, I do not hear the fuel pump turn on. Makes me think fuel pump relay due to bad fuel pump, possibly. Would that keep it from turning over? When I turn the key on, everything is normal, with the exception of hearing the fuel pump, then when I turn the key to start, I get nothing, no click, nothing. Thoughts?

Update : Sorry all, hit the red cutoff switch on top of the engine while trying to identify the whine. Feel pretty embarrassed about that. Anyway, still unsure of the whine. Are the fuel pumps on these that loud?

I don't have an electric pump on my sea ray but I had a Volvo Penta on my last boat that had a low and a high pressure fuel pump...and yes, they were pretty loud.
You could hear the low pressure pump cycling on and off.

And don't be embarrassed...you found your own problem so it doesn't really count:grin:

Should not be a loud whine unless its going bad or cant suck the fuel from the tank.
check the anti-syphon or the solenoid valve and fuel sep/filters
