My 2003 280 was doing fine as we were anchored out. When we got ready to leave I raised anchor from helm. It worked fine. Had lights on, water on, blower on. We started home and switches were light up but would not work. Then all the lights in the switches went off but everything was still on. Had to cut batteries off to kill the stuff on. It was both sides, blower side and right side. Cut batteries back on and nothing on either side works. Help, any ideas?

It seems EIM related, except the port side switchpad controls the EIM in the ER, and the starboard switchpad controls the EIM in the little cubby down under the engine controls. Barring something like a near miss lightening strike, it seems odd that both would fail at once. It makes me wonder if it might be something more along the line of a bad battery switch, or EIM connection to the battery switch. I'd put a multimeter on the power and ground side of each the EIMs and check to see if they are getting voltage when the battery switch(s) is energized.

Also check the two breakers for the EIMs located with the battery switches.

No way both EIM's went out at exactly the same time. I will check the breakers for these. Both the port side and starboard side did exactly the same thing at the same time. Thanks guys for the help.
