We were cruising across the lake and starboard engine lost power and will not restart it cranks but will not fire does anyone have a idea of possible place to start we have a 2003 Sundancer 300DA

Wont be able to help with that limited information. Could be a lot of things. If you are mechanically inclined, give us some more symptoms and what you have checked out so far. If you are not knowledgeable about engines/repairs, you would be better off having a marine mechanic look at it and figure it out. With a 300 you are likely in a marina? In my experience, giving your marina mechanic business and building a good relationship with them is a good thing.

Are you missing fuel or spark? That's where I would start.

Some possibilities:

Crank sensor
Fuel pump
Ignition coil
Fuel pump relay (in the bank of 3 relays on top of the motor)

I believe that engine combination has a fusible link in the engine mounted circuit. It is probably located down near the starter. If it fails, the engine will crank but will not start.

A quick test is to engage the emergency start switch, which ties the 2 engine electrical systems together. If the starboard engine starts and runs, release the emergency switch and the engine should die.

This issue happened to me, and it was the fuel pump relay. For me, it was diagnosed by turning the key to the on position (don’t crank). and listen for the fuel pump to turn on. One engine you could clearly hear the pump, the other, nothing. The engine serial numbers and exact model of the engine will be extremely helpful.
