Great guy, avid boater, talented musician and loving husband/father. He owned a dueling piano bar and could play nearly every instrument known to man. He and I, along with another friend planned our big Venetian dock party in Saugatuck every year where he also was the entertainment. He played a St. Pattys day celebration Friday night and Saturday night and when they got home Saturday he laid down in bed. He almost immediately sat up, looked at his wife, she asked him what was wrong, he said nothing and fell back and was gone. In talking with her last night I also found out he's been complaining of tightness in his chest for a week but refused to go to the doctor. Stubbornness killed him. Don't be stubborn. If you don't feel right, listen to your body and do something about it! RIP, John. You will be missed.

Wow that is so sad. For all the failings of modern medicine the area of cardiac intervention is not one of them.

Heart muscle does not regenerate, when it's gone, it's gone for the rest of your life. There are some amazing treatment options that will almost instantly resupply badly needed oxygen too an ailing heart.

Do not ignore chest pain especially if it's a "pressure" or "heaviness" and accompanied by difficulty breathing and or nausea/sweating.

Shaun,
Very sorry to hear this. My condolences on the loss of your friend.
Like you said and Quint alluded to above, be aware of pain/pressure between your shoulder blades too and down your left arm. These are other general areas of referred pain from a struggling heart.

Sorry for your loss Shaun. I lost a good friend (since HS) on Friday the 13th (December) and it still hurts. We have to try and remember all the good times we had and how they made us feel.

I am so sorry for you, the family and all who will miss his talent. I lost my cousin (more like a brother) some years ago to a nearly identical story and this brings back those memories.

Thanks Dave for the advise, it needs to be shared often.

So sorry to hear your sad news Shaun, condolences to you and his family too.

Shaun,

Take comfort in your friendship and the memories that came along with it.

Prayers and Condolences,

-Rocco-

Sorry to hear but brings back memories. My dad suddenly had swollen ankles and when I asked about it it he said he was on his feet to much. Also he had been going to bed earlier and earlier. I told him if he didn't go to the doctor he would become a statistic. The next day he passed!!! Yes listen to your body and if you don't do something have your family members insist on it!

Again I am very sorry for your loss,
Tommy

He sounds like a guy I'd like to have tipped one with. I'm sure he will be missed by many but I'm also sure has he sits up there and looks down on his life, he has to smile!
