Looks to be live a very nice Dry Storage

There are two facilities of this type on the horizon in South Florida... this one in Aventura and Harborage Club in Fort Lauderdale. Both should be very nice, and in the upper end price wise, when completed. I believe both are 2009 or later at this point.

I spoke with them recently. The facility that would be large enough to handle my boat is WAY up the New River and they quoted me a monthly rate that is about 5-7x the current rate for in water dockage.

I would hate not being able to go down to the boat and have a few drinks dockside. You also wouldn't be able to overnight at the dock.

That marina wouldn't be a great option for a cruiser.

Also that spa and coffee bar etc. who cares about that crap.

Actually the facility up the New River is a 3rd one coming up soon in South Florida. The owners are the same people as Thunder Alley in Aventura. I believe the New River facility, which caters to 50+ in size, is more geared towards long term storage, rather than the daily/weekly user. It's about 1 hour from Port Everglades inlet and there are a few bridges to deal with.

Regarding being able to have a few drinks dockside, both Thunder Alley and Harborage Club may offer this. They may have a few slips for people who want to stay for the day or overnight at the marina. My marina, which is mostly dry storage, offers this, so I pressume these "fancier" ones may as well. But who knows, and if they do, they may add a fee on top for that "service."

Like Tim, I like being able to just go to the boat and sit for a while, not even taking it out, so I will never store at a marina that doesn't offer the ability to stay in a slip for the day/overnight.
