Ok, we've had a 220 SEL for the past 4 years...

Usually were in 1-3 ft. chop... and were getting slammed and beaten all over.
The wife has finally said enough, and wants to upgrade to something that will handle 1-3 fters w/o an issue (and without going < 5 mph)

We've been looking at everything.

250SLX, 270SLX...
and even: 27' Fountain, 27' Formula, 26' Formula... 22 Pachanga

I'd like to stay Sea Ray.

Can anyone chime in on how a 250 SLX, 260 SD, or 22 Pachanga handles in non-calm water?

We've kinda decided that we want the following:
Large engine ( I like to go fast! )
Thru Hull Exhaust
Head on board
Swim pad is nice.
Anchor locker in front.
Ample seating

I can get a good deal on the Pachanga... but I dont think that's what were looking for (not much seating... climbing over the sunpad often's gonna not be good, no easy way to bow anchor...)

In order to get a 250 or 270 SLX, I'd have to travel about 5 hours... (and I have yet to even test drive it...)

So can anyone give me a little feedback on these boats?
Pro's / Con's...

Thanks!

We looked hard at the 250, but at the end of the day there just wasn't enough cockpit seating for us. We love the 270SLX. The only complaints we have had arise from having a 240 SD previously and that boat was set up for water sports. If I had to do it over, I would have bought the 270 with a tower, but aside from that it's perfect.

As to handling rough water, I was plowing through 3 - 4 footers coming from every direction at once over Labor Day, no problem at 30 MPH. No beatings and no complaining from the crew.

Sounds like you are a candidate for a 280/290SS!

Twin engines help in the "go fast" department. The 9' 6" beam also helps with stability in chop.

What are your trailering needs?

Just traded our 250 SLX in on a 320 SD. We liked the 250 but if I was to do it over I would have gone with the 496 engine. It handeled well in 3' waves. You have to be a contorsionest in order to use the head.
