I have a 93 250 Express Cruiser with the factory Bimini top falling apart. I thought about getting a universal Bimini that was a little longer to add shade when fishing. We stay on the boat when we go to the lake and like the factory top and side curtains when the weather is bad as the cockpit has seating with a table. I assume a canvas shop could duplicate mine easily with the old one as a pattern. Anyone have an idea what a replacement canvas would cost, I assume I could use my existing frame. The boat is put away for the winter, but the old top is in my garage. I have never priced any canvas work so I am just trying to get an idea of cost. Hoping it's not another "BOAT" fix. Thanks

Not sure where in Northeast Ohio you are located, but there has to be some local canvas shops that can give you a quote. In my area (Wooster), there are Amish canvas shops that do excellent work. I had a mooring cover made, with Sunbrella material, for a fraction of the cost of the “marine” shops. Only issue is, most don’t have phones. You would have to make the trip to get a quote.

I'm in Hartville, outside Canton. I emailed an Amish shop down in Sugarcreek, but they said they needed the boat there to give me a quote. I already have it wrapped and stored for the winter. If you don't mind me asking but what did yours cost? Thanks

My mooring cover, which goes over the windshield to the transom, cost just over $400. They had the boat, installed all snaps, vents in the cover, etc. It was done 3 or 4 years ago. Work was done by Kansas Road Tarp Shop in Apple Creek, OH. They are closed on Sundays, Thursdays and Saturday afternoons. Open 7am to 5pm during the week, 8am to Noon on Saturday.

Hi @Johnc3211,

We can probably help you get a factory replacement top to work with the original framing. These would be made by the same company (using the same patterns) that made them for Sea Ray when the boat was new. The Sunbrella can be ordered in most of the standard marine colors.

I would need to get more info from you to get an actual quote. I would like to note that you are probably in the "BOAT" range for cost.

If you are interested in this send me all your info using our request form at www.covemarine.com and I will contact you. The HIN (hull id number) will be important and I will probably want to get some pictures as follow up.

Has the material failed or the seams coming apart?

I'm currently having my entire enclosure resewn with some new zippers and hook and loop.

You can see daylight through some places of the top. Also seams coming apart around the windshield areas. I assume it is just showing it's age (30 years old). We did leave it up for about half the season this year. Really went downhill fast.
