Hi

looking to move my boat to jersey shore next year, looking to find a clean marina with a swimming pool.

Would like it to be no more than 1.5 hours fom Bucks county PA.

thanks

Try looking on jerseymarinas.com the have marina info by county.

Try Green Cove MArina but I don't know how far a drive that is for you. It is located in Brick NJ.

Look at High Bar Barbor Yacht Club. It is on Long Beach Island, 1 1/2 hours away. It is a dockminium, but slips are available for seasonal rental. Very clean, pool, showers, club room.

Anywhere on the Jersey Shore is more than 1.5 hours from Bucks County.

Depends on where you are in Bucks... I made it Newtown, Pa in 1 hour 15 minutes from Toms River, NJ...

If you take 195, Brick, Point Pleasant, and Toms River can be less than 1 1/2 hours from Bucks County...

When looking for a Marina, find would where you want to be near first, like near the inlet, near the beach, near restrauants, etc. That will help you narrow your search. I have been to many marinas in the area and the nicest place in is Dillon's Creek in Island Heights, NJ, but it does not have a pool... We love High Bar Harbor on LBI on the Barnegat inlet, but that would be more than 2 hours for you... Light House Point would be probably be the easiest since it is only 2-3 minutes from exit 81 on the GSP... Also, Lighthouse Point is mostly fresh water, and your boat will last longer...

I am close to Newtown PA, so the 2 that seem close enough are the Lighthouse Point/Green Cove. As far as what I am looking for , I like to fish, so close availability to an inlet would be nice, I have kids so want to be a close walk/ride to beach and other activites such as rides/amusements. as far as returants, only family friendly are required.

Has any one rented a slip at either of these marinas?
Could you comment on the cleanlieness of marina, pool, and showering/Toilet , engine service facilites.

thanks again for all the replies so far

Neither one (Green Cove or Lighthouse point) is close to the beach... Its at least a 20 minute drive. Fishing, IMO is too far from either of these marinas... For a real vacation spot, I like the marinas at LBI... LBI is high end living, no rif raf... The Beachs are nice, and you are close to fishing, the downside, its another 1/2 hour on you drive, but form where you are comming form you will not have to deal with much traffic until you hit the island... Look at it this way, if you buy home on LBI it is $1M + and its $10K a week to rent a small place in the summer... A dockaminium in LBI is the way to go... Highbarharbor is cheaper, but it is further from the rides... HBHYC is in Barnegat Light which just won top 10 small towns in the US...

key harbor is nice clean has a pool, restaurant, tennis court, weight room . the owner and people there are great . It's 1.5 hrs from lansdale pa i would stay away from anything on LBI the traffic getting over the bridge is insane . we've been here since 2001

I tend to agree about lbi, too long to get over bridge, and not enough for young kids to do there. been there done that area. lookin for something new
A couple more marina's came out in some seaches
light house point (toms river)
and wehrlen brothers marina
any info on these
I also talked to some one at crystal point but slip fees of over 160/ft !!! I am not D trump :)

Trump Marina in Brigantine is having a special, $600 for the month has all amenities. I think it's a try it, you'll like it thing. Season is around 3K though.

RONDDS is at Lighthouse point.... What I know is mostly form what Ron has told me.

On the plus side:
  • It has a very nice pool and activities for the kids.
  • You can work on your own boat,
  • the water is mostly fresh
  • it is convenient to the major roads
  • close to downtown TR restaurants...
  • 1-2 minutes to get to the end of the no wake area.

On the downside,
  • the immediate area just outside the marina, is kind of trashy (IMHO) but I am a bit of snob...
  • It will take you 20-25 minutes to drive to the ocean beach.
  • It will take 45 minutes or more to get to an inlet, in your boat.
  • Takes at least 30 minutes to get to place without jelly fish in the summer...
I never heard of the other marina...

I was at Green Cove for 6 years, and this is my second at Lighthousepoint. Both are very clean, predominantly fresh/brackish water, DIY marinas. Pool, park behind your boat (which allows you to set up a table/bbq/etc.). GCM is catching up but LHPM is newer top to bottom, has an immense resort-style pool, poolside bar, entertainment on weekends at the pool. Other pluses are little to no no-wakes, closer to the deeper wider part of the bay, and less expensive. Green Cove is well up the Metedeconk river and there's a pretty long no-wake leaving the marina, esp if you go courteously slow as you pass Wehrlens and FrankC.

Speaking of Wehrlens, very nice marina BUT limited "park behind your boat" capabilities (once you have this feature you will not want to go back), and it gets pretty rough on weekends in there. They do have a pool but I've never seen it. FrankC (FC3) can comment better on Wehrlens.

To me, LHPM is the best place to be on every level. It is in South Toms River, which certainly doesn't have the same swagger as Toms River but inside the marina, you'd never know the difference.

That's my take on it.

I have been to Wehrlens to see FC3... My first impression left something to be desired, but it does have the benefit of having Frank C there if you need technical advise... The bar looks like something from the Florida Keys... the parking lots are gravel. If seemed a bit unprotected to me... My favorite marina is Dillon's Creek, but the it does not have pool...

It's a marina. A lot of our friends are there, so we ended up there. I had the park behind thing. Eh. No big deal having it or not having it. Of course, I'm not an out of shape lard-butt, so that might be why I don't care about that. The parking lot is okay. The pool is small, but I don't really care about that. The bay and ocean are large and I'd rather be using my fiberglass beach than the pool anyway.

If I had a dock queen and spent too much time at the marina, then Dillon's Creek would be my first choice. But since I don't want to hang around the dock, it seems silly to pay for amenities that I'm not going to use.

Pick a marina. Any marina. If you hate it... move the next season. Thanks to Obamamama it seems like most marinas have empty slips these days..

Excellent point! You can always move your boat once you get to know the bay and find spots you may prefer. One thing to remember is that it's more cost effective to drive your car than your boat. ie: if your find that your favorite spot on earth is Tices Shoal, it makes more sense to pick a marina that's closer to Tices. So Key Harbor Marina would make much more sense than Green Cove Marina, even if it's an extra 1/2 hour drive by car from your home.

Park behind your boat is key if you have kids. You don't have to worry so much about them wandering down floating docks or piers. It's also nice if you tire easily of sitting ON the boat. If you are purely a day-boater, you don't need this feature. But if you stay on board for the weekend, it's nice to not be limited to the confines of your boat. Most people set up an urban backyard - carpet, grill, patio set (not as trashy as it sounds!) This also affords a more social environment as you and your kids get to know your marina-mates more easily.

A pool was also on my list of must-haves. The admiral loves the pool, as does my daughter. Quite frankly, so do I! Nothing like spending a day on the water at your favorite swimming hole, then heading back in, tying up and sauntering up to the pool for some tunes, a cocktail and some cool clean water to wash the salt out of your shorts.

But alas, I do miss the exercise of walking 1/4 mile down to the boat in 90 degree heat and 90% humidity, then taking the dock cart back up to land, then walking back, and then going back up again b/c I realized I left my cell phone in the cup holder. And my butt has definitely gotten more lardy since I changed marinas.
