A friend on mine is selling his 340 and is purchasing a 390MY in Lake St Clair area. I told him I would see if I could find a good surveyor and transport company. He's unsure whether he'll bring it around my water or have it dismantled and trucked down to Florida.

Thanks for the help!

Not sure if that is out of his area, but it's worth a call to Greg Group http://www.greatlakesmarine.com/.

Greg is extremely detailed. I just had him do a survey for me in Sandusky, OH on a 400DB and he was on the boat for 7+ hours, tested every system, all electronics, checked voltages, GFI's and even checked the temperature coming out of the ac vent and the hot water heater. He took over 500 photos and videos of everything on the boat. I was on the boat during the survey and he explained everything throughout the survey, but if I had not been on the boat, his report and photos really detail the condition of the boat.

Good Luck!

I would strongly recommend taking the 39 MY down by water. I brought mine up by truck only because the Erie Canal was closed and they were not sure for how long. My boat was on the east coast by St. Augustine. It took me a year to find all the kinks that occur when you take them apart. Once I got through that, the boat was perfect but the cost to tear down, shrink wrap (Murphy says it will rain the minute you put her on the truck so if you don't want your cockpit and electronics full of road grime), crating the hard top, and then having a yard put her back together, it is about the same cost and a hell of a nice trip. I know a captain that would love to help him and he could do part or all of the trip. Also, it is very important that if he does take her apart either have the same yard do both ends (like Gillatti) or make sure every nut, bolt, wire, etc... is marked and stowed.

I would be happy to discuss with him if he gets to that point. We loved the boat but ended up buying a condo and downsizing to a 34 which has been great.

Good luck,

Dan

Thanks Dan. I'll let him know. It will be a week or two beofre everything is finalized.

I used them to ship from Key Largo, Fl to Annapolis, Md, well initially. I decided to bring the boat to Miami and then ship it as it changed the costs by a lot.
What they do is bid on your move. When I changed it from the Keys to Miami it went from $6000+ to $3500. I did contract with the marina in Miami to haul it out, drop the radar and shrink wrap from the windshield to the transom (per my carrier). I also had it set up with the marina in Annapolis to launch it. Worked out well.
