Looking for cockpit cover for 2002 320DS. I think anything from 2002-2007 should work as I don't see any difference. If anyone has one please let me know. Only using for summer months so color isn't too important to me. Looked on great lakes and couldn't find anything. Also replacing full camper at the end of the season so I would prefer not to spend an arm and league. Thanks all!

I'm in the same boat :eek:

GL made new Isenglass for me over the winter, and it looks awesome. I was hoping to make it through this season before having them make a new camper enclosure and cockpit cover. But now they are not taking new orders. :( My cockpit cover barely fits and it's on its last legs.

As noted above Great Lakes Boat Top is the OEM for this model and my company distributes their canvas. (We also run a discount program for the CSR members.) Unfortunately GLBT is not taking any dealer or retail orders at this time but they hope to late this year. That is probably not going to help you at this point for this season. If you would like more information let me know otherwise if you want to be notified when they start taking orders you can send me your info using our online request at our website (https://www.covemarine.com).

Because of the above your only other option for this season would be looking at fabricating a custom piece of canvas. If that is something of interest let me know and I will see if I can help.

One other note, you should also be aware that there are at least two different windshields for those models (aluminum vs stainless steel) and the fitment is slightly different.

Try wetting the canvas and then stretching it. It may take some time but you will be amazed at how much this canvas will actually stretch. I have seen canvas on something this large stretch a couple of inches over time.

Thanks Kevin, great to know and I'll be in touch for getting the bimini tops and whole canvas in the fall.

I didn't realize my existing stuff was aftermarket, so when I got the Isenglass only (Al windshield), I went to put on the new windows from GL with the old bimini tops and the zippers didn't match :mad:

I thought I could get through the summer at least, with the camper top in place, but I was out the other day at speed and the zipper teeth basically disintegrated and half the camper top turned into a flag!
 
Phil, if you have a seamstress in your local area, have them stich in the size #8 zippers to your fabric to match up the existing. Or a zipper adapter that has the one teeth for the new stuff and the #8 for the GLBT stuff. So basically sew a zipper half to zipper half. Then you will have a adapter for just a few bucks and another 1/4" of room between the snaps and top.

Just a thought.

We see this regularly and try to verify with clients prior to any non-full canvas replacement orders. For our local customers we have replaced zippers for just this reason - to revert parts back to match with the new factory ones.

Zippers do tend to be a maintenance item. If taken care of the actual canvas will outlast the zippers and the threads.

Fathers Day next week, tell wife you want new canvas and have her pony up, kids can chip in too.
 
Well the camper lives to fight another day!

One half of the zipper was toast. There was maybe 3 inches of no teeth at all. At first I thought maybe I could add snaps, but there wasn't enough overlap.

Then I noticed the teeth were all there, just squished together with no gap:

I was able to pull over the teeth one by one, get them close enough, and zip it all back together. Now how do we get GL to start taking orders again ???

I too work from home. My wife gets pretty ticked at me at times because I will answer her in nothing but lame commercials. It can be quite entertaining on a very stressful day. When she gets really frustrated with me, I will let her know that she is the one that said yes and for worst as well as better. LOL
