I've often wondered about that part of Lake Erie. Anything fun to do up there? How far up the river can you go?

You can run it all the way up to a mile or so past I-75. We were almost to the end, at Toledo Sail club and Maumee River Yacht Club. It's right across the street from the Toledo zoo. Otherwise there are some docks downtown Toledo and a resturant or two downtown on the water. There are a couple train bridges you may have to wait for, given the height of the arch on your bridge.
