I just listed my 2003 260DA and wanted everyone's opinion on what the best site is too sell your boat. I'd also like to know what a fair price would be to list my boat. My SeaRay with arch has a 5.0L with 238 hours. Always detailed and maintained on an annual basis. I have a Garmin 540S, 13" television, Satelite ready and stero with 6-disc changer. Also has full camper canvas with new cockpit cover. This will at least give you an idea of what is on the boat.

Hi

I bought mine, similarly equipped for $35k as a Certified Pre Owned Boat in April 2009. It had 225 hours on it when we bought. Had the arch, camper canvas, 350MAG, remote spot, 6 disc changer, heat/ac etc etc.

Sold it in August 2009 after adding Taylor fender racks, new lines, Raymarine A65 with custom mount, 0.5 DIN Rackmount DVD to go with 15" LCD TV for $49k CDN.

If you look at hutchinsonsboatworks.com, theres a 2003 with around 50 hours for $44k. We bid on that boat last year prior to buying our 260 but the owner wouldn't take anything under $49k. On the other hand, prices up here in the Thousand Islands seem higher than in the southern U.S. - this is why our first boat and the 300DA we bought in Sept 2009 were purchased in VA.

It's good to look at BUC and NADA, but my limited experience is that local markets have a profound influence on price. We sold our boat locally (just lucky) to people who were looking for a 260 of our vintage and were not interested at all in looking beyond the immediate market.

Hope this helps.

It doesn't have a trailer or a windlass, but does have AC/Heat. It's a great looking boat and i just listed for $41k.

Sold our 2000 260 DA yesterday 216 hours, 5.7, bravo 3 the rest was usual options, no trailer. Boats are selling, it took 3 weeks.

Just my opinion, here is what I think my boat is worth.

2003 280 Sundancer

Twin 5.0’s BIII drive + Generator

A/C, heat, windlass, radar, chart plotter, camper top + cockpit cover, loaded.

No trailer. Very good condition, not perfect. Nothing broken.

$45,000

Worth and what it wil sell for are two differnt things these days. He sent me a PM, I made a few suggestions that might help sell his unit. There are majic numbers when a person is looking to buy and if you can keep your prices close to the majic numbers it will help you get people to look at your ad and at your boat.

$29,995 sure seems like a lot less than $33.995 it's all about perception and impulse.

OK, I said it wrong.

I think my boat would sell for $45,000.

This is a tough time to sell a boat. You can ask whatever you want, but if you really want to sell it you need to be realistic about the market.
If you can't emotionally let it go for a discounted amount, you might be better off keeping it.
If you are going in to something bigger, than I would sell it as fast as possible, and make the market work for me on the purchase of the bigger boat.
It's called "giving a deal, to get a deal".

what boats are listed for, and what they actually sell for are entirely different things. it's one of the reasons so many boats are unsold right now

In keeping with the tradition to post threads in CSR which will only serve to lower the price of said boat....I say....20K! (I'm sure NADA and ABOS has it valued at 10K ;) Anyway, good luck!

Well i've looked at boats listed on Boat Trader and Boats.com and what I've found is there listing between $44k and $54k. I know what a boat sells for is different than what it lists, so I think I have a fair starting offer on my boat. The thing with my boat is I really don't have to sell, but since we moved to the water and I'm able to keep the boat close to me/take it out whenever I want that I'd like to get more of a dual console style boat.

Don't you just love these "list your boat for free on csr threads" I remember I guy actually sold his 290 a while back by mentioning he might sell it in a thread - c'mon choke up the $40

I agree.

Could those other boats sell for $59K? Sure, anything’s possible but I think it’s unlikely.

Check out this video.

Its a 2003 280 Sundancer. His asking price is $45K. Even at this price it hs not sold.

My boat has more stuff then Mike's 2003 280 like I have the larger 5.0’s, BIII’s, generator, radar, henway, etc. Maybe I could get a little over $45k but for sure not over $50k, no way $59K.

If I listed it at $59K I would not seriously have it for sale. There are a lot of listings out there where the boat is not seriously for sale.

In my opinion, listing a 2003 260DA, 5.0 motor, no trailer, very minimal boat (not loaded) assuming it’s in very good condition at $41K is not tyring to sell it, its just listing it.

There may be more in play. Simply having it listed may make the wife happy. He may not want to actually sell it.

In a few short months it will be July 5 and on July 5th and after boat sales drop off. This is the sweet spot, right now.

Now thru Memorial is the best time to sell a boat.

Memorial day to July 4th is when my marina owner sells the most used boat.
Last year he couldn't keep enough used boats in stock.
I think he sold 30 of them. :smt001
