So I am looking at buying something around a 280 Sundancer and prob 06 or newer.

Anyone have advice on options to look for and ones I dont need? It will only be used on fresh water lakes in Oklahoma. I will be spending nights on it during the summer prob will not use it during the winter.

The 280 is a great boat. Make sure you get one with a generator. That is what makes the boat complete.

No matter how old or new...get a survey!

Ditto on the generator!

Try to find one with electronics installed (i.e. gps, chartplotter, etc.), as these are expensive add ons.:wow::huh:

Great boat! Good choice!
Greg and Scott beat me to the generator and electronics.

Look at lots of boats, and find out what features and layouts you like. When I purchased my boat, I started out looking at 260DA and 280DA's. I also looked at a few 320's, but they were outside of my budget. When I looked at the 300DA, I new this was the boat for us. Good luck with the hunt.

Great advise! Bottom line is right look at several sizes and a lot of boats before you buy. I was sure I wanted something in the 30 to 32 range but ended up with a 35. Don't be afraid to very carefully look at the repo's. I have seen a lot of junk but I have also seen some great buys.

Very good point! Now a days there is a large inventory showcasing some really pristine vessels.

The 280 is a great boat! Good advice on the genny. It comes in real handy.

The one item no one has brought up yet is the debate on one vs two engines. Personally, I like having the second engine for safety and maneuverability. Others like having just one because of the lower costs - only one engine to winterize, etc.

That is really a decision for you to make depending on your needs and prefs.

I would go with the twin engines and the largest, but thats me.

I've got a very nice 32 I'll sell you it has everyting including a Genie, all the equipment you'd ever want and the Air.... can freeze you out of bed in a 90 degree day... We're looking for a nice 48 DB forsale and priced right... The 32 has it's wwon trailer too...Fifth wheel trailer..
