I recently came across a local, leftover 06 model of a 290. I must say I like the look of these boats... but i'm not exacly sure of the "pricing"... below is the situation... what does everyone think? One thing that concerns me is that the dual 4.3 setup may run a little soft on a boat this big.... otherwise it has most of what I'm looking for. I don't really need ac/heat or a generator setup...

I think this setup should be around 100k... am I smoking crack? Boat is new... NADA doesn't seem to help much.

Do a price sheet on SR's web site. I just did and came with $177k for a 2008 with the same specs.

Take 25% or so away for a reasonable price, and depreciate for two years.

My gut tells me price should be around $110k or so, but even if new, you are buying a boat that is two years old in terms of model year. This will affect resale down the road. I would shoot for the $100k you're wanting if this is the boat you decide on.

I tested one of these that also had genset and ac and same engines. It did fine. I would say about the same as my 260 single 6.2l . I really liked this boat until I saw the 07 310 dancer as my possible next boat. As far as price it all about how bad they want the sale.

So shoot them an offer and see if they bite!

Go Cougs!!

I wouldn't give over $95K for it if it were me. Thats a little over 40 percent off which I feel is right for a 2 (model) year old boat. But also keep in mind that you are severely limiting your resale potential on a boat without Heat and AC. While not having AC and Heat in the Pacific Northwest may be fine for some people, that just won't work in most other parts of the country. And not having a generator has the same market limiting factor as well. The other thing is the 290 never gained the acceptance that the 280 has and that is why the 280 is still being made to this day (the 290 was originally intended to replace the 280 but obviously it didn't). So that may also will work against you on resale potential down the road.

First of all - Welcome to the forum! I must admit, I have never seen a Pewter 290 in person...Do you plan to trade anything in? Finance yourself or through the dealer? The dealer can make up margin on the financing and in return sell the boat for less...

Before you pull the trigger, check around to see what that 100K will also buy you. You may be suprised!

I'm thinking Dave S hit it on the head. Looking at yacht world boatssold.com I have seen them sell this year for as low as 88K with no air or get set. Grant you this was used a Florida boat.

I remember a post a little while back, and what Frank W. said. You won't know the selling price until you write the offer to purchase check.

The dealer has been sitting on this boat for two years and has been paying interest to the floor plan company. May be time for him to stop the bleeding

That does seem high. The 300 '06 Dancer trade we have can be bought for just a bit more. I think the low 90's would probably be a good price. Those pewter hulls look nice.
