Looking at a 280; opinions wanted please.

I have chatted with several guys that have black and dark blue hulls, all of them say never again will they buy a dark hull. If you are a anal boat owner as many of us are the dark colors just look rough quite quickly and need buffing on a regular basis. They look awesome when cleaned up but that is tons of cruising time lost to polishing.

Things I noticed

No mention of heat/A/C
Gen
windlass
anchor
masserator (sp?)
etc

The items listed really help the resale of a boat and in our neck of the woods some of the itmes are really needed.

last week there was a 280 in the Seattle Craigslist located in Bellevue in the 50k range. That looked interesting but did not have any of the above listed items.

One thing that struck me wrong was the brokers listing, they had the boat as a 31' which is BS for a 280. A 31' at that price would be a good buy not a 280.

It is a buyers market

I haven't tried ebay for anything big, but I have a friend who has sold vehicles and surplus industrial machinery via ebay as part of his business. He tells me that a lot of buyers of the stuff he sells actually do what they do in 'real' auctions and preview the items, either in person or with third parties.

I'm not sure I would buy a boat that I couldn't see in person via eBay. But then again eBay certainly would cover that whole uncertainty of when and how money and title transfers take place. As a general idea I'm not receptive to brokers and sales agents having had a few bad experiences. But that being said, I think a good broker in a large ticket boat purchase would be something to investigate if only to weed out they scruffy ones.

I have a blue hull. I also have a black car. It's true that both require a little more attention to look their best. The compliments I get make it worth the extra effort. My next boat will also be blue.

* I think the safest way to buy a boat that's miles away would be to spend some money and hire a surveyer in that area.
* I don't like ebay / paypal (ebay owns paypal) and won't deal with them. Do a search and see the issues people are having to deal with.
* The 31' thing... maybe loa... not sure. Either way it's kinda' stupid cuz' if you search 28' it doesn't come up.
* My 240 had a black hull and it was extra work but I think it's worth it too.
* Another plus about this one is that it's registered in Canada so I'd save 5% tax as opposed to a cross border purchase.

I only see one outdrive in the photo. The description reads twin engines. It looks like a single.
