looking at a 1979 22ov sedan

any advice on spotting wood rot around engine and bilge area ? I am looking at a 1979 22 ov sedan , some of the inner fiberglass is coming loose from wood. in the bilge area, this will be my 3rd Searay i like the ones that have points and condensers, this one is different then I have seen before very cool . iwould post pictures if I could figure it out

Fiberglass coming loose from the wood, to me, is a sign there is extensive repair work needed. The only reason it would come loose is moisture or rot. If it was still sealed and it was coming loose, that's still bad. And if fiberglass is coming loose, it's a fair bet moisture has ingressed far beyond just the loose glass. You could repair the glass, but the wood would continue to delaminate and rot inside. I'm not a master of boat repair, but this sounds like something I would run away from. Maybe others can provide a different light, but it doesn't sound good.
