I'm looking at a 1985 DB (Sedan Bridge) on Friday and it will be a private sale. Yes, if I like how it looks I'll get a survey before closing the deal but thought I'd ask if there was anything in particular about this model I should pay extra attention to? It is fairly basic without a/c, radar, or radio.

This is our first larger boat and somewhere we hope to spend extended time. I've been looking for a trawler rather than than this but you don't find many displacement hulls in Oklahoma. It will live on the Arkansas River system and probably have a moorage on Kerr Reservoir.

Any thoughts or comments welcome.

I am working over the same model and year. On the mechanical end of things, make sure the engines and V-drives don't leak oil. Check all the seacocks and make sure they work as advertised. The engine room is cramped and not alot of wiggle room if/when you have to do any maintenance.
There are a couple of 300 db owners on here.

Dockside inspection was fine today. No obvious damage but lots of wear showing. Hasn't been polished or washed since the spring so saw it at its worst. All the teak needs to be refinished.

Bimini top was okay but all the other canvas was stuffed in a compartment and unused for the past couple of years at least.

Was told the port engine could have a "gen head" installed and saw an extra pulley in that location.

Was told the v-drive has a wax seal that should be replaced every year - something I need to investigate.
