Thank you for the feedback on "Blue Hull Maintenance". It was very helpful.
I am planning on buying the Blue Hull 2007 Sundancer 38, I do have a concern. The boat has 78 hours on it, it was devlivered the end of 07 and used for 2 seasons in Maryland, It has been shrink wrapped winterized outside storage since Nov. 09. It was not used the summer of 2010. The boat is still under warrantee untill the end of 2011. Are there any key areas that may be an issue having the boat stored for 12 months? I am planning to schedule a survey and sea trial when the weather permits. (We just had a blizzard in Maryland.)
Thank you for your assistance. Your input is much appreciated.

I would really consider removing the fuel that is in the tanks. There is a huge chance it is bad. Put a small amount of fuel to replace it with some Seafoam or other treatment that will clean the fuel system when you do fire it up. Replace the engine oil for sure and verify fluid levels on everything else (also turn it over without ignition as Scott recommended). Make sure it was properly winterized so you are not surprised when you fill the water tank. Check all hoses, put that beauty in the water and enjoy the heck out of it!

You had two key suggestions from Scott and Ken.

#1. Make sure that the boat was properly winterized, including fuel being treated. The surveyor should be able to help you get the answer on this.

#2. Great suggestion on how to delay firing the engines. I do it every spring.

I personally wouldn't do anything different on recommissioning my boat if it had been stored for 12 or 24 months instead of usual 5-6months. I also wouldn't drain the fuel since I use fuel stabilizers.

So, IMO most depends on the #1.

Get as much maintenance history as possible, especially find out what was done (oil changed for mains and genny, fuel filters for mains and genny, etc.) right before the boat was stored.

Good luck.
