Long Island, Hurricane?

our floating docks look similar. That's a major reason why we pulled.....

Thanks, Ron. Does anyone know how bad Patchogue is with the tide tonight? I hope I am blocked high enough and the local news shows flooding right in that area......

Boat and dock made it thru with out a hitch, the lines really got a work out. They were like guitar strings Saturday evening and were plenty slack Sunday afternoon. South Freeport got hammered, friends and neighbors lost floating docks and decks, lots of flooded basements and crawl spaces too. My home stayed dry, 2 feet of water in the back yard altered the landscaping though. Hope everyone else had luck as good as I did.

We did fine on the hard.
There was 2 ft of water in the lot where the boats were put.
They had 2 small boats floating out of the cradles but quickly dealt with them.
also had 3 large boats on the hard closest to the front of the canal that were close to floating off of the stands while the tide was at flood.
they threw the anchors into the canal just in case. Luckily tide had ebbed and no damage reported. Odd seeing bilge pumps running with boats on the hard....
Worst over. Tonights high tide didn't flood.

I left mine in with the floating docks we had and the boat was fine. No damage. But I tell you the current was FAST.

Sorry I didn't get back to you. My plan was similar and is what I actually wound up doing. I took the Strataglass off and stored it inside the boat, flat and installed the bridge cover and supports. I took the cockpit canvas and stroed that inside the boat as well. Checked my bilge pumps, doubled up the lines....and all was well. How'd you fair?

How ya' making out?

Just got back from the marina and all is well. Everything in tact. We took a spin up and down the creeks and there is a lot of dock damage in Center Moriches. Now we just need our damn power back on in the house.

I had my boat pulled on Saturday and I'm glad I did. When I went to the dock yesterday I found the boat on the starboard side of my slip had his port stern line snap (he had them crossed), so if my boat had been in my slip they probably would have been smashing into each other. I just received a call from the marina and my boat is back in the water...now I'm just a little worried about debris in the water, I'll just take it slow.

Looking forward to spending this weekend on the boat.

I called InsCo and they did not require me to pull it, so I didn't. Most boats in my marina were not pulled, all of them survived just fine except for those who neglected to remove the flybridge canvas... Heck, the boat still has power and cable which is more than what I have at the house...

Thanks for the update and photo.

South Shore Boatyard in Patchogue took us in on Friday, did a nice job and was very accomodating to us. Picked the boat up today and am now back in Great River. Will likely use them for winter storage.

Will daytrip tomorrow with our labs so they can swim in the Connequot River. Heading to Zach's Bay for a raft up this weekend.

Hey Brian,

All went fine. I stayed on the boat and rode the storm. It hit us at around 9-10pm and lasted for good 8hrs. Then after some break we had the 2nd wave with West wind gusting up to 65MPH. Due to the way my slip is positioned the boat happened to take all the wind and waves broadside, but she handled it great. I was even able to sleep for few hours while some boats (including Formula 40PC right next to me) were jumping around and looked like will take off any minute. Since the storm came in the middle of the night I couldn't take good pics. But I have some of my prep work:

Alex,

I see you had a similiar experience as I did. A lot of work removing all the bridge canvases, carpets, cusions, life jackets, tv, etc. It was even more work putting it back together. Naturally, the bridge area needed to be cleaned before everything went back. About 30 something zippers for all the canvas! Just happy it wasn't that bad where the marina is and no damage.....

What a mess on the property, Steve. It's good to hear that your boat is fine. I don't mind spending few hours of work taking all the stuff off and putting it back together to have positive results. I think it's much better than the alternative and not worth the risk being lazy.

It's end of day 3 and we still don't have power at the house.

Sorry to hear about your power issues. We never lost it at home or, amazingly, at the marina either, although they did shut it off at the marina from midnight Saturday to about 6 p.m. Sunday. I finally got the boat washed, it was absolutley filthy from the storm. Hopefully my Startaglass will be cleaned today and reinstalled. Hope all is well.

COD, are you in West islip? pics looks familiar.

We lost power at the house for 1 day.
marina still dark. they took a lot of damage to their repair facilities and office. The floating docks seem no worse then before but i understand the power and water connections to the fingers are broken. We had the boat hauled and relaunched yesterday. Back in business.

I lost power from 7 am sunday until 5 pm wednesday. I pulled the boat for the storm and to inspect it for lightening damage below the waterline from a lightening strike issue 2 weeks ago. The boat has yet to be relaunched because the power outage really messed up my daily schedule and childcare. It looks like I will be going back in this weekend but, I cancelled my plans to go to Watch Hill because I am going to just clean up around the house and relax by the pool! Have a great weekend everyone!
