Long cruise planned, looking for tips....

If you wear an apple picking hat like I have, no motion sickness.

All great tips from everyone, and thanks so much. I can see we will have a lot to think about with our trip plans with all the great info provided here.

Bill,

My wife & I along with another couple are interested in making a trip to NY as well so we will be watching your thread to learn what we can. Once you know what dates you plan if you'd be interested in a couple more SR boats from the lower bay let us know.

John

Well the dates are set and reservations are made. We will leave Gunpowder Cove on Thursday afternoon July 8th for a short ride up to Chesapeake City where we will take on fuel and spent the night. On Friday July 9th morning we will head up the C&D and out to the Delaware Bay with an outgoing tide to Cape May for Friday and Saturday nights as Utschs Marina. We will leave Cape May on Sunday July 11th and head north to New York and the final destination at Liberty Landing Marina in NJ, which is directly across the Hudson from downtown Manhattan. We will be staying at Liberty Landing from Sunday July 11th to Friday July 16th, (5 nights) leaving Friday morning with a stop on the way home at Cape May again for Friday night.

If you would like to join us, we would welcome that. I have all the marina details if you would like PM me.

Seeing as how Liberty Landing is being mentioned, I thought I might say that we stayed there last year for a couple nights while on our way home. Great Place..but if anyone is thinking of being there before Memorial day weekend, the ferry was not running yet. We had to take a cab to get to NY. I know you guys are all going in July, but if anyone following this thread is thinking of going sooner than the end of May, There's an FYI. At least call ahead to check.
Hope you folks all have a great time

You guys would be remiss if you went all the way from Cape May to NYC without stopping in and seeing your friends in the Barnegat Bay... Contrary to popular belief, the Barngat inlet is very easy to get in/out. I would recommend anchoring at Tice's Shoal for the day. You can walk to the beach, and you can bring dog, and even build a fire. I would not recommend anchoring all night there, but I know a few very sheltered areas that would be very good anchoring spots, and a couple of good restraunts and marinas near Tices Shoal...
