My 2005 360DA has a Lofrans Project 1000 installed. Recently I have been having an odd problem with it. I will let out or retrieve the chain and rode and suddenly the windlass will stop (with or without any tension on the chain/rode). Helm switch or foot switches do nothing (and I don't hear any noises or clunking coming from the motor or relay in the anchor locker). I turn off the windlass switch on the helm and let it sit for a few seconds and turn it back on and it works ok. I was testing it a little this weekend and I can seem to re-create the problem when I use it a bit (i.e i let it out, retrieve it, let it out, retrieve it succession).

I checked all the wiring in the anchor locker and connections are clean and oxidation free. No breakers tripping anywhere.

Anyone have any thoughts?

The motor may be going. Next time it stops try tapping on the motor and see if it starts working. If it does it may need a re-build or replacing.

I don't know if Sea Ray uses them, but on my old Carver there was an auto resetting inline CB that did the same thing. Drove me crazy until I found it and it was a Progress 1. Good Luck.

So playing with it more. It will run then go slower and slower and stop. Could it be as simple as bad battery in one bank? Or would the motor being drawing more amps because of a problem with it?
