Hi - I have just replaced the oil and seals on my Marlin windlass and now want to remove the cap on the top of the shaft.
can someone advise if I am correct in thinking that there is a quick release clutch that basically can free wheel i.e when I want to drop anchor instead of waiting a age for the motor to pay out the chain I can just use the clutch?
I am finding that unscrewing the top cap away from the gypsy wheel if a right pain.
There is an arrow pointing in the clockwise direction saying "loosen" is this the correct way to remove the cap or is it counter clockwise to remove the cap???.
Many thanks for any help/advice
