anyone regularly enter\exit the Bay south of LBI via Little Egg Inlet? i need some pointers/local knowledge for a planned trip that will involve leaving beach haven, going out Little Egg and coming back in at Great Egg (will be hitting Ocean City, NJ). probably will return the same way, but i COULD stay on the outside when returning and enter through barnegat (well marked by pretty tricky as well). any help would be greatly appreciated!

I have been to Beach Haven a few times, but I’m no expert. The last time I was there was a few years ago. Make no mistakes about it, it's a tough inlet. I tried to only travel it at high tide; not very forgiving at low tide. If I recall correctly, you basically followed the ICW until you pick up the inlet buoys. (They are constantly being moved). You must find and stay in the outgoing channel.

From the outside it’s even tougher. You make your way to the LE buoy and try to pick up the inlet buoys. As you get closer to the inlet, you will see breakers on your starboard side, a bit unnerving. Remember, it’s the ICW, so if you enter the inlet from the outside and are traveling north, keep GREEN on your starboard side.

Good Luck
