How does anyone get registration numbers to stick to a rubber dinghy? I've tried the regular stick-on letters and numbers but they don't adhere to the rubber and soon fall off.

I'm thinking of a stencil and some kind of paint. I'm sure there are plenty of people here who have overcome this problem.

Thanks,

We used Boat Number Plate. They custom build a flexible plate for you and you use the appropriate glue to adhere to you dinghy. We have had it for 5 years and it still looks great. It even leaves room for the state registration.

We purchased it through a local marine store in St Joseph. I am not sure if you can order direct from them online or not?

Boatnumberplate.com. White or gray but the gray looks good on a white dinghy with gray trim. You can order on line.

I used a plate from West Marine that just clips on the hand rope and hangs off the side.

painted mine with a stencil

I tried the plastic plates at west marine and they flop all over when moving and they are a pita. Go with the boatnumberplate ones and I think you will be happy. All my dock neighbors want to change to these after seeing mine.

Thnaks,

I will check it out. I dont use mine very often so I never even noticed anything other than being in the way coming out of the water with some bugs.

Find a sign shop that has some Scotchcal 225 and avoid any sharp points in the letters. Clean the dinghy with alcohol and apply. They will stick fine; but if you are constantly ramming the dock with them, they will not hold up.
