I'm a long time Sea Ray owner, and was active on CSR earlier this year, but decided to take a break from boating and CSR starting in August when the marina where I keep my boat announced they were going dockominiums. Since I wasn't about to speculate in Charleston waterfront property, I used the occasion to re-evaluate my boating future, and in the process decided to catch up on the millions of things I need to do on a 40 acre place and a 3 story house. I won't fall so far behind again.

Anyway, the siren call of the coast and all that is Sea Ray finally lured me back, and here I am. I keep my well-oiled 1997 290 Sundancer in dry stack in Charleston, boat about 100-125 hours a year, and what I enjoy are overnight cruises with family and friends, and especially finding that just-right spot to drop the hook, fire up the grill, and let the world go by.

Boy, CSR has grown up since I was here. It's looking good.

SADLER!
Welcome back man. You should know better than to think you can avoid boating for any length of time. I tried ....didn't work
Glad you're back!

Welcome back.

Welcome!!!!

Boating....Its the best disease I have ever had!!!!!

Good to see you back on the water Sadler!!!!!!!!
Lets get the 290's back on a thread.1994-1997 Log in.

Sadler, Welcome back we've missed you. I know your name has been brought up a couple of times about late 90s 290DAs. With the way the real estate market has been, how did the dockominium do?

Wow guys. Thanks so much for the warm welcomes.

You know, the Internet has exposed a huge cadre of impersonal and rude people. But CSR is the exception. The discourse here is on an entirely different level. Cudos to everyone here.

I was close to folding my hand and retiring from boating when my marina announced they were selling the dry stacks. But the invisible hands of the marketplace worked miracles and, with very few takers, the marina is reverting back to leased slips. In fact, rather than being kicked out I've been so welcomed back as a slip renter by the astute marina manager, that I've done a 180. All the great improvements they made at the marina to pull in buyers now benefit us, the lessors and "regulars", and I'm happy as a clam. Nothing's forever, but for now, I'm good. Time to pop a cork.

To continue the celebration, it looks like Hey Babe is headed down the ICW. To the Bahamas.

More on that later. :)

Sadler,

Were you/are you keeping your boat at what was once Duncan's Marina? I can't remember. If so, what sort of improvements have they made?

Yep, it's what used to be called Duncans. An investment group out of Texas bought it and they've poured money into it. It's called RiversEdge now. New docks, new dry stacks, new restaurant, new marina store, new (giant) forklift. New gas pumps, new security fence. Almost new everything. New attitude too. I think they missed the window. Economy down, real estate down. The rumor I hear is that the investment group wants out now.

Thanks for the update. Enjoy all of the new amenities.

Thanks. I misspoke in that the docks are not totally new; only the dock floor boards are new. The floor boards were pretty splintered and cracked before and a lot of the cleats were coming loose.
