NoVA on the Potomac
My name is Steven, I live in Northern Virginia with my Partner Skooter and we primarily use our boat on the Potomac River between the Bay and D.C. We overnight on her and do day trips.

Bingo Boyz is a 2006 340 DA with many of the available options. We are adding a much needed camper canvas this season and should splash into the water in the next couple of weeks.

I look forward to participating on the board as my schedule permits. Happy Boating....Steven

Welcom aboard Steve......planning on a custom Camper top or one of the reddi made Taylor Types????

Hey Steven... Welcome to the club. Are you at the Prince William marina? Make sure to post some pics of your 340... I really like the pewter hull.

Camper Canvas

The canvas will be custom made. It is nearly double the cost, but having to look at the bubble shape of the ready mades for the rest of the years we own this craft will kill me. So we sucked it up and sprang for the custom job.

It took a lot of effort to post the one pic with my signature, my photos are too high of a resolution for the board, (I think)

We are not at PW Marina, we keep her in Neabsco Creek at the Pilot House.

She's a beauty- you are going to love that camper top option-I know you are spending alot on it but the increase in "lounging"space is well worth it!

Steven,
Take heart. You will never regret a full camper.
About 10 years ago, a friend at our marina had a 1988 30' Sea Ray, with the original, sloping, non camper canvas, that was in need of replacement. I convinced him to get a custom camper, which he did. He and his wife absolutely loved the additional useable space, never regreted the additional expense, and enjoyed it for 6 years. He sold his boat to other friends of ours, and they love it, and use it as their cottage during the summer.

Greetings Beuatiful boat!
Ditto's on the camper. We have the Fast back by Taylor. You won't be sorry with additional usable space. It really extends our season. Hope you find the board useful.

Mike

Hey Steven,
We live off of Neabsco Creek, in Powell's Landing. Nice area and close to our Marina at Quantico.

I had Mastercraft Canvas (or whoever the PWM recommended guy is) do the custom camper on the 320 we owned (now Full Circle II) Loved it at the dock, but underway in hard weather it quickly becomes a loosely flapping disaster. But is sure adds to the usable space of the boat when you are stopped. I'd have gone with the TaylorMade product, as it is far less expensive....but my wife could not get around the appearance.

be real careful with Carbon Monoxide in the enclosure underway. I bought a Kidde battery powered portable CO Monitor with digital readout and kept it in the cockpit to monitor CO levels. CO clilmbs in a hurry when you are underway if you do not ventilate properly.

See you on the river!

regards

Skip, Thanks for the heads-up. Yes we know about the station wagon effect. We had a Maxum with camper canvas and know about getting proper ventilation when underway.

I also looked at the Talyor made "bubble" and felt that it was not pleasing to the eye. We are using Potomac canvas for the job. The PWM company was a little more expensive and I spoke with someone that was not overly pleased with the quality of materials or workmanship from them. Now you are number two so I am glad we went with our guy at the marina.

If in the future we have service issues with it, it will be taken care of since we are right there and dock talk travels quickly.

We should swap houses. We live in Triangle and dock at the Pilot House and you live in Powell's Landing and dock in Quantico!

We looked to buy in there but we got more for our money in Triangle and we sort of had our fill of Woodbridge where we just moved from.........!

See you on the water.Steven
