Lessons from experience

It turned out his problem was something other then a dead battery. I’m no mechanic but when he turned the switch he got nothing, not even a click.

Did anyone check the "Kill Switch"?? :smt017

There is no accounting for people, we are who we are. Those that will help and those that don't. You did a nice thing. So what if the guy was to dense to realize it or appreciate it. You know you did it. Now go have a beer on me.

PS: I taught Frank that "Crazed" look...took me a while but he finally got the hang of it. :smt101

Richard,

I don't think so........remember who carries a bucket of rocks on the boat to keep canbotes at a distance.......................had one of them call the marine parol last week...heck, I heard his radio call ( like, he thinks I wouldn't have a VHF?) I just pourd the rocks in the bay and when the grouper trooper motored up he said, "You wouldn't be throwing rocks at that canbote wouldn't you?" I just said "What?" he said "I didn't think so" and left.

Who's half crazy?

Canbote Captain's are getting sophisticated.....used to be all they had was old tomatoe soup can's and string...moving up in the world using VHF.

Good thing you got a innocent looking mug Frank. :smt101

I give up, what is a "Canbote"

A boat supported by two domestic beer cans. :smt043

Otherwise known as a pontoon.

Richard,

You need to spend a little more time on the water. The canbote guys are still in CB land.......at least once a week I hear some bubba shouting on the VHF........... "Breaker Breaker 16 --- anybody got their ears on out there!

Awe, no.... :smt021 :smt043 :smt043

I hope a coastie answered, "This Water Bear" what's your 20?

Gawed!!! :smt100 Meeee!!! What a hoot. :smt043

SB - I don't know about up north, but down here in the gulf we have a unique phenomenon of the 1 day wanna be captains. Rental pontoon boats are everywhere. And there are wonderful people behind the wheel of each and everyone of them. They just don't belong there. :smt021

I have seen can boats (Canbote, the German pronunciation) run over the top of sand bars. Instead of getting off and pushing back off, guy drives over it, sand and mud flying everywhere. A ruined outboard I am sure. Seen many of these folks run right in front of boats like Franks and other 40-50 footers and expect them to steer around them. Running at night with head lights on, spot lights on...the list and experiences could make for one very long thread.

Needless to say...we have a little fun picking on the "Canbote"
