Leg problems

The leg on my 1975 Mercruiser 240 Sundancer only works up and down sometimes, other times nothing. Any ideas on what I might do to solve this.?:huh:

Does this "leg" have a model number attached to it? Say like a Alpha, TRS, etc. Most of us around here call 'em outdrives by the way.
