Here are a few projects I've been tinkering with.. I am going thru a 1987 340 SeaRay and so far, I've removed and replaced the headliner, reconditioned the wood on the interior, repaired the fridge. Carpet is about to come out and at the same time I'm going to recover the interior seating. The Red LED's are on my boat. I changed them and I'm also about to take on a complete interior upgrade. New Carpet or Wood floors, just not sure which way I want to go. New deck carpet and all the interior will be recovered as well. The 370 is a couple of slips down. The owner saw my red LED's and wanted his done in blue. So I ordered all new exterior LED's for nav lights on both of our boats. And at the same time I replaced all the interior lights. I went with warm white and on his I did the cool lights.. I must say they look great on the inside.. Next are the underwater lights when we pull them out for bottom paint this season. Remodeling three boats at the same time has been quite the task , but it's really addictive.. Hope you all enjoy.. Throw some suggestions my way...

All look awesome! And 3 at one time. U r ambitious

Lee, Looks great! How did you put the seams together. On one of my 88- 300's, the previous owner had started replacing all the headliner/hull liner and tried to glue some "hideum" over the seams. Most of it has fallen off. Looks like dukey now. What did you use for glue? Your not very very far from here so 1 day I'd like to meet your boat in person! Where do you dock, in Springfield/?

Thanks Guys! It's just something I love to do.. Speakerdude... After about three days of removing the old headliner and getting the old glue off (you can't get it all) I had the new material ordered and guy I know owns a top shop (headliners, convertibles, boat canvas. He stitched the new material together based off the old material I brought to him and some measurements. He then brought down a air sprayer that was a type of glue like you use on formica countertops.. First we sprayed the inside and let it sit for a few mins and then we sprayed the headliner... It was really tricky, just be careful not to touch them together until you are sure you have it lined up and in place... Happy for you to come up and see it.. It's in Lampe near the Baxter boat dock. This thing hasn't been out of the slip in about 5 years... Doing a complete tune up and replacing a lot of parts.. The good news is, I almost have the interior completely back to tip top shape. With the exception of the carpet.. that's in another month or so.. Call me if you want to come take a peek at it.. 417-353-9947

Pietro... Your project looks great! I am really interested in your flooring.. What type of wood is that and what did you use to level the underside and attach it as well? I have really considered doing that in my 350.. Links to products and more pics would be great! Have three of these older SeaRays I'm working on and we might all go this route instead of carpet... Looks so much more classy!! Again, great work..

Do you remember what the material was that you used for the headliner? There have been posts on a company that made something similar to the original color scheme, I was just wondering if you might know what the weight(thickness) of the material you used was and where you got it from. I have some sagging and stains. If it is mainly a manhour cost I can do that, but if it's really expensive material, it may have to wait.
You guys have been posting some amazing pictures of restoration projects, Pietros, just blows me away! Keep em coming. Makes me feel bad that mine looks so old, but I love to get new ideas of the possibilities.

Lee, carpet was a nightmare for me as I’m allergic to dust... The floor is teak plywood and was glued on. The original floor where the carpet was glued to was not level at all. We used some thin layer of wood as shims.
You have to create a step where the lids will lay (hope the pic will help understanding what I mean)

More pics next week when all the interior should :smt013 be finished...

That’s my led fixture (no more fluorescent lamps) in the saloon’s ceiling! It's made using a self adhesive led strip cut to lenght.

FYI I used Sunbrella for the headliner

Did anyone ever figure out specifics of the headliner material? I'm about to start replacing mine, and while I see lots of projects, I can't seem to figure out exactly what people have used. This one looks great! Thanks.

This is the stuff I would really like to know what it is and where to get it.... Thanks!

Thanks. Did it have a foam backing? I'm looking at a few kinds; most only have a slim backing, and others (without the same color choices have a 1/4" foam backing)...
What did you use to get all of the residue from the old stuff off the ceiling? I pulled my old carpet off today; left a mess... Thanks.

If the old glue is loose and hanging, simply use a putty knife to scrap off. If it is thick and really tough, glue right over it, as long as it doesnt create a bumps in your new vinyl. The last one I recovered was carpet so you really couldn't see any bumps.

Thanks. I'm thinking about either one of the Nauga soft vinyl products on this page (which only have a "jersey" backing):
http://search.sailrite.com/?refineType=1&sub_attr_name=Indoor%20Application&refineValue=Headliners%2FHull%20Liners&refine=1&history=o2r6e62r%7C%7Csub_attr_name~Store_ID%5ErefineValue~Retail1...x655g1h4%7C%7CcategoryName~category_root%5Ecategory~121351%40Retail1%5EsubCategoryName~Fabric%5EsubCategoryName~Fabric...vxevkios%7C%7CcategoryName~cat_121351%40Retail1%5Ecategory~121367%40Retail1%5EsubCategoryName~Marine%20Interior%20Fabric%5EsubCategoryName~Marine%20Interior%20Fabric

Or one of the products on this page which have a 1/4" foam backing:
http://www.garysupholstery.com/foamback.html

Headliner Removal - - mine came off pretty easily; leaving some of the yellow foam behind but not much and only in isolated areas. I think if I lightly take an orbital sander to the rest I can get it pretty smooth. I'm just wondering if that 1/4" of foam actually makes that much of a difference with noise and heat/cold retention....

If anyone has any thoughts or suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks.

This is on my too do list as well. I have an 88 340 Sundancer and the previous owner took the horns off the boat, but did not seal the holes correctly and the water ruined the headline above the galley. I have been trying to figure out how to remove the cabinets above the galley. I cannot seem to get them to come down. Did you have cabinets above the galley to remove and how did you get them down?

I have been thinking of here for the headliner. http://www.defender.com/category.jsp?path=-1|5948|296197&id=309382
