We just purchased a 1988 searay weekender. Just discovered the cabin leaks in the v berth. They are pretty much below the running lights. I have sealed all the handrails and running lights and I thought I had corrected the problem but when we had heavy rain the other day it leaked again. Has anybody experienced this problem and can give me some input.

The classic place for a leak on these is at the bulkhead in the anchor locker. Put your head in it, look at the joint between the deck and the bulkhead also the sides. A trick is to look at night and look for light with the cabin lights on. "Great Stuff" sealant works. Also make sure the anchor locker drain is not clogged. I enlarged mine and put a bigger clam shell over it. Check where the wires come through for the windlass too.

I had to re-bed my pulpit as I knew it was in need. There are a lot of holes through the pulpit that can leak right at the V. Have you taken off the trim piece that goes on both sides of the V-berth to see if it is coming right at the 1 1/4 inch wood strip that the rub rail screws into?

I removed my rub-rail and re-sealed were the deck and hull are marriaged. There are a lot of screw holes from the rub-rail and then behind the rub rail are more screws that fasten the hull to the deck. I used boat life life seal. I eliminated all leaks. Also check your windows. Are they getting moisture?

Had water leaking into cabin from anchor locker also, rain or wash down water would travel along the unerside of the deck back to the cabin. I ran a hevy bead of caulk from port to stbd on the underside of the deck aft of the hatch opening, this allowed the water to simply drip down into the rope locker and drain out.

Curiously i had three wet spots on my cabin floor this weekend after rain drenched two days.they were sopped about the size of a quarter or 50cent piece.any way there is foam under the floor that could get wet?I just re carpeted the cabin this spring It would s##k if i had to tear the floor up.
