I have a fluid leaking from trim cable attached to outdrive. Whats the fix? Picture is starburd side of outdrive. Im pretty sure this is the hose that makes the outdrive raise. Hydrolic oil being milky means water has invaded the system , I would think.

Picture attached...needs to be rotated, but cant figure out how...

Looks to be bent up a little. New hose and flush the system really good. You don't want the internals in the rams to get water in them.

I have had great success flushing systems with 1 quart of trans fluid mixed with 2 quarts oil(10W-30). The trans fluid works great at removing water from the system and cleaning it out. Just be sure to flush the flush before returning to service.

I'm sure others will have other suggestions.

Mine has some o-rings where the hoses attach to the pump block. It could be those or the hoses. I would try to tighten down and or replace the orings first. It’s a pain to replace those hoses.

you certainly want to flush out the system, the channels in the Rams are small and they are expensive to replace ($400 each)

Check that on the hose difficulty, I thought that was the front of the pump. We replaced those on mine, was not hard with a little help from the heat torch. We messed up the threads on one of the rams, an expensive but not labor intensive mistake

Before condemning the entire hose use a GOOD flare nut wrench (7/16?) and try to tighten that fitting. I would back it off a hair before re tightening. From the picture it like it's leaking where it seals on the outdrive flare.

You always have the option to replace he hose which is more involved, of course.

how do you flush the system? i tried taking a hose off on each side, poured 10w30 in the reservoir, trimmed the outdrive up and down to push out the 'old' fluid. did that on both sides. put new fresh 10w30 in, but still turned all milky in the reservoir.
