Hi Guys,

I snagged a crab pot which wrapped around my prop. I was able to get it off, but noticed a slick in the water after fully trimming my Alpha One using the trailer button.

I have no idea what it was, but something leaked both times I used to trailer button. It didn't seem to happen until the outdrive was fully trimmed -- or I just didn't notice it earlier...

Any idea what the usual culprits are?

Trim works fine.. Steering or lower unit oil possibly?

Thanks,
Joe

How much is leaking? Are you getting water leaking in the boat also? If so I would check the shift cable bellows, possible the pot tore it. It would tend to leak as the drive is trimmed, a small oil slick would be from grease washing off the shift roller harm. Other possibility is it damaged one of the trim hoses, in that case it would be a larger amount of oil. Worst case it damaged the drive housing and you are leaking gear lube. Your going to need to get the boat on a lift or trailer and inspect.

I noticed roughly a 2' x 2' slick on both sides of the transom when using the trailer button. No idea if it's gas, oil, or hydraulic...

I don't see anything much inside the bilge..

Boat will be pulled next week for winter -- just wondering what to look out for....

Why are you using the trailer button in the water? you aren't running the motor with the drive tucked all the way up are you?
