Steve: If you take a look at Peter's first post on this you will see that his tv has built in volt stabilizer and can run on AC or DC. My suggestion would be to check with tv mfgr to see if AD/DC adapter is available of buy an inverter to hook up to the tv so you can run off of DC.

Best mounting idea I've seen yet, great job! Could you share with me info not so much about the TV but about your custom hatch assembly? Where could you find similar hinges/hardware? And you simply cut out a piece of material to mount the TV on, installed the hardware, then the TV, and that's it? Pretty awesome.

I come from Europe, so I don't know where you can buy these parts.
I think you can buy everything at Home Depot?
Yes, you simply take the size where the old TV is in.
Than you make the hatch minus 1 milimeter...
