Yesterday afternoon I was preparing our boat for this week when my brother called. I knew he was in the San Juan Islands this weekend so I asked him how it was..............a brief pause and then he said "well it was going great until about 5 minutes ago"
He went on to explain that some how his engine went dead and he diagnosed he did not have any spark. He pulled the cap off and noticed the cap didn't look too good. Anyway, I live about 50 minutes from the launch(when my boat's at my house-which is it was this time). Then the spot he broke down was 1/4 mile away from the Lopez Island ferry dock. He was not in any danger except that his two kids may have mutinied from bordom.
Once I got to the launch it was 25-30 minutes to get to him and 2 hours for the slow tow back.
He had notified the Bellingham CG and they kept in contact every 15 minutes to ensure our progress was good.
Anyway it was an unexpected late Sunday night cruise, great weather and overall not too bad
Today he'll get a tune up

Glad everything turned out well. Now are you sure that was not planned just to get a last minute run on the water?

Yeah.....we did change plans on him this weekend due to tides.....so you may be right and we did joke about it on the nice cruise back

Glad all turned out well!

UPDATE:
my borther said that his distributor cap was cracked and the ignition coil needed to be replaced.
He's not sure if the service yard may have dropped something on it or not. But anyway he's back in action
