I'm guessing some get used to it.
I'm guessing some even like it.

One thing I'm sure of....... To me its like a cruise ship, helicopter ride or free vacation time in mexico.........I aint goin.

I could handle the 24/7 daylight in the summer but not the darkness in winter. I can't stand the short days in winter at LAT 39 let alone where you are.

What, no helo ride!! Flew 'em for 15 years in the Marines--more fun than you can have with your clothes on!

Thank you for your service to our country. No thanks on the helicopter. There is a list of about 10 things I will never do (or never again). This one is pretty close to the top of that list.

I guess that must take some getting used to. But it's probably pretty cool to experience. A visit to Alaska is definetely on my list of things to do.

I can relate, having spent many years at Ross Island and the South Pole...Believe our winters were a tad longer though....sunset was around early April, and sunrise or first daylight was the middle of August....Was always an experience watching it come up, as it doesn't do the east to west traverse, it spirals from the horizon upwards....usually a great light show as well....
Have a great holoday everyone

I know it was enough to drive my mother off the edge. We lived in Bethel for several years (I was born in Anchorage) and that was all she could take. She told my dad that either we moved back to Indiana as a family or she was going alone. We moved to Wabash.

For me, I'll never be in a hot air balloon. Afraid of heights, don't cha know.

Hot air balloons are fun if you are in calm conditions with a good operator. Living so close to the Napa Valley, there are tons of them here. I took the wife on one a few years ago and it was very peacefull.

The USCG has been doing excersises this last year on the northern coast as there is not as much ice in the past few years.

In Anchorage the sun comes up around 10:30 AM and sets at 3:30 pm. Start gaining daylight December 22nd.

Right now I am in southwestern Washington. lots of rain, but 45 for highs so I am loving it.

If anyone is going give me a PM and I might be able to help you with some things to see.

I'd love to go up in a chopper. I love anything that floats or flies!! Fast cars are good to.

I told my kids that if they ever hear of an old man killed in an explosion involving a high speed chase in a stolen Ferrari. That would be me.

My boats parked for the season. It might as well be dark 24/7.
