Lake Saint Clair Peeps

We were out at Strawberry and noticed hundreds of boats heading into the Moot. We followed....

We've been on Erie for the last 9 seasons and never seen this type of traffic, except for the Nooner. The entire Little Moot was a parking Lot. Back then you couldn't even get in there.

Was this some type of Raft-Off, or is it like that every weekend?
Nothing special this weekend and a neighbor at the marina went there and said it was just kinda busy. Not as many boats as usual.

A few Memorial Day raft up pics from Fisher Bay. Notice the nice 390 in the background.;)

Just the usual probably. It's twice as bad on raft off weekend. With that said, Fisher was pretty busy as well

The key wording is.... within the boundaries of the state of Michigan. To the best of my knowledge, Canada has not inacted any wake limitations on the St Clair River. I use the Cana Dian side and avoid the US.

Thanks Great Lakes, that seems way different from last year. I remember a No Wake buoy around Algonac Harbor Club to almost the river and then clear sailing all the way up the river to Huron. Looks like now it's 200/600 from just past Deckers all the way to somewhere north of Algonac in the St. Clair River and then No Wake to north of Marine City somewhere. That is going to be a long ride to Port Huron now. Wonder if the freighters are going to slow down in that area.

Blueone- I made the run up the St Clair river Mothers Day and had no issues with either the sheriff boats I passed or the coast guard boats I passed. I maintained no wake from Algonac Harbor Club to the river then headed north for Lake Huron.

Here's the new wake restriction zones, enjoy!

The Macomb Marine Division Sheriff is a family friend and I asked him about this map. He said this map is incorrect and he's not sure who sent it out. It's not the official map. All wake zones are similar to last year even for the river

Sorry for being quick with the trigger

Great Lakes, thanks for the update. It was concerning how long it will take to get up to Lk Huron, I have two trips planned for Lexington and Port Huron is always on the table for a quick run and stay for the weekend.

That's the problem with a red marker...once you get started it's hard to stop... just ask my high school teachers

Yes, it requires a cable, but if you have a remote at the helm (and compatible/capable equipment) that’s already done. You can remove the cable from the remote, and then add it and a “T” to your NMEA2000 backbone. Then get a new cable and another T for the remote and do the same thing. My UD750 injects power for a directly-connected remote. Since an NM2k network can only have 1 power source, that setting has to be off.

As far as benefits: at the dock/anchor, your plotter becomes a 12” touchscreen interface for all stereo functions. Underway, quick audio controls and info can be inserted on the nav screen, while quick volume adjustments etc. can still be done with the remote.

Thanks to all for the input.

Hey Gasket, I’ve used Millers in the past for a few different boats. He’s located at BMH and is known for quality work but on the pricey side for canvas/eisenglass work. I’m a big believer in you get what you pay for and with Dennis you’ll be happy no question

I’m also at MR and my buddy just had a new full camper done on his 410. Looks super nice.

Make sure you’re sitting down when you get the quote..
