Lake Saint Clair Peeps

According to the USCG website, as of 04 February 2022 they are processing Certificate of Documentation (COD) recreational initial dated 25 October 2021 and recreational re-issue dated 23 October 2021. Won’t be long. You can check their site to see if your application has been processed

I just looked. Mine was 11/15/2021 so I'll likely see it next month.

Our 320 was documented thru the coast guard; MC numbers are not required to be placed on the hull externally, but you have to have the MC numbers on a placard which ours was in the engine bay. The only sticker externally would be your watercraft sticker from MI SOS. I may be wrong, but those need to be on the forward part of the bow similarly with where the MC #'s would be. When we sold our 320 last Fall, it was not an issue, but the process takes longer because we had to work thru the Coast Guard. The Coast Guard has a 'decent' web site that explains much of this. I am considering documenting our new to us 390 because a) i want to support the coast guard, b) like the looks w/o the MC number externally ... I'm OCD. Personal preference unless your finance company makes you do so.

The actual language is: "Documented Vessels: On a vessel documented by the U.S. Coast Guard, the registration number does not have to be displayed. However, one registration decal must be attached to each side of the forward half of the vessel as high above the water line as possible"

It doesn't limit it to the hull. You can put it on a window or any other part of the cabin/bridge above the rubrail as long as it's on the "forward half of the vessel"

Thanks for looking that up. I didn't think it needed to be on the hull. The old registration sticker was on the windshield side glass and that was where I was planning on sticking my new one. I just need to get a plaque for the documentation # and mount it.

Both entrances have markers now. The north channel will be the preferred. You dock behind the restaurant and you’re protected from the wind. The south channel near munchies will be exposed to west wind. When we were there Friday the south side was pretty choppy and had swells coming through.

Owner said they put in 1600’ of seawall with pylons ever 10’.

Google maps doesn't show anything. Arrow the "north"? Yellow the seawall?

We were there this Saturday after a day at Sassy's getting our gal ready for splash on the 25th. There was plenty of chop coming in the South side channel with strong winds. That channel looks wide enough to swing around, but with the wind and other boats tied up along that wall, Im sure my mind will perceive it to be narrower than it really is.

On the bright side, changed out my port side wiper motor, had to do it 2x because the first wiper motor was for the starboard side, not port. A story here but nonetheless feels good to finally get that done. :)

yellow is seawall
Blue is where the markers are

The backside doesn’t have those wells anymore. It’s all seawall

The owner sure went all out on investing in a restaurant that is out of the way and limited winter business… I’ll be up there this summer for a couple of weeks….I’ll help pay the bills :)

I agree with the location but there was an hour wait almost continuously once he opened. Place was always packed. Granted, it was the newest thing. The owner is adding an ice cream place on the island too. Island Grill is screwed

I like the island grill…the only thing is it is hit and miss when they are open…. But I would think room for two
