Lake Perry mechanic not on the lake??

Lake Perry, KS- Does anyone know of a quality mechanic, who is reasonable, that is NOT affiliated with one of the marinas??

I am @ Rock Creek and although the service has been solid to date, they are very pricey.

Thoughts??

I'am at LPYM since 2003 before that I was at RC. Moved to LPYM because of service at RC & DJ the previous owner. There is a independent mechanic named Shaun, I don't have his phone #, I will try to find his # and post it for you, I should see a guy this weekend who has it.

Thanks for the reply. We are new to Perry but not to boating. I am not displeased with RC and Dennis and the service guys have been great.

I have a hard time stomaching the fact that my service time starts the minute they leave the shop and does not end until they return to the shop....that can add 30 to 45 min of additional service time as my 340 DA is at the end of L dock.

If you happen to get the guys # I would love to talk to him. I am also looking for a boater/mechanic who can show me some simple repairs/maintenance items like: impeller changes, cleaning strainers, etc. I am new to big cruisers coming from a stern drive 260 DA in NM.

Perrys a great lake and for us it is close about a 30 min. drive. I do all my basic maintenace, would be glad to show you what I can. Less $$$$ spent on mechanics means more for fuel & other toys. I went up and checked the boat today and there is a lot of ice on the lake. About 2 months till time to go for a cruise, last year was out for the 1st time on St. Pats day. I'll get Shauns # and post it after this weekend.

Thanks for the offer, I will probably take you up on that. This is our first full year at RC as we bought our boat on the Monday of Labor Day and did not get it delivered to RC until 2 weeks later.

We are really looking forward to a long hot summer....I hope!!

When do you de-winterize your boat??

We also like the proximity of LP. We can be on our slip in 55 minutes from Lenexa. WE sold ourselves on LP when we had to drive 3 1/2 hours to Lake of the Ozarks for our sea trial of our boat....that drive sucks. Imagine a quick jaunt to check on the boat, impossible if you are at LOTO.

About the 2nd weekend in march, usually by then the water is @ 40f. Last year on St. Pats day we fired up the engines and cruised over to Rock Creek & up the main arm to the sailboat marina. The marina turns the dock water & pump out on about the middle of April after that I spend a lot more time on the boat. I know what your saying about Lake Oz. we used to trailer a 22' down a couple times a year, my neice & her husband bought a new 310 last year and got a free slip for 1 year at Lake Oz. they want to move it to Perry because of the drive. I post that phone # Sunday, look forward to meeting you this spring.

Glad to hear it can be as early as mid-March. I'm done with all this snow and cold. We had so little time with the new boat last year this will really be our first year with her.

I have heard the LP has a smaller version of Lake Oz's party cove, is that correct?? I assume it is A LOT tamer than Lake Oz's????

Dennis @ RC told me he would turn the water on when the temps looked they would be trending up regardless of the date. Most likely mid-April like you said.

Shaun's # is 785 224 0080, he has a shop in Lawrence but makes service calls. He has a go fast boat and is at the lake most weekends. Party cove is on the east side of the lake just past the Ferguson Rd. bridge. We are usually there on weekends and rafted up with some friends who have houseboats. See you in the spring.
