i am having new canvas made soon...right now i have asked for quotes from 3 different canvas shops:

- Boat Covers Unlimited
- Mountain Island Canvas
- Carolina Custom Canvas

anyone have good or bad experiences with these companies?....any other canvas shops i should consider?.....

Thanks...

I used Carolina Custom Canvas. Nothing but high marks from me. They did all the canvas on my 250EC. Excellent work and done at the dock.

I have had Boatcovers Unlimited make the extras for my 290DA and have had some repair work done - no complaints. Carolina Custom Canvas is at Lake Norman Marina a lot, never used them, but have heard from the guys there that they also do good work. Never heard of Mountain Island Canvas.

Carolina Custom Canvas is high quality
Casselman learned from him and now competes. He did my last few jobs. Cheaper and less in demand. Same work. good guy.

thanks guys....i forgot about Scott Casselman....he replaced the camper windows for my 215EC several years ago....i'll check with him also...

Cliff are you redoing all the canvas? Or just the new side curtains you asked about in another thread? If the latter, You should also look into Cathy's Cushions in Troutman. They do more interior boat upholstery but also do smaller canvas jobs. I used them for some of my smaller projects. Also very good. Their son works at Skipper's.

i am getting new full canvas Steve...both biminis are ripped...the camper panels are still in decent shape but the color of the canvas trim is sun faded and would not match the new canvas...also we have been thinking about switching colors of the canvas....the current canvas is tan and we want to switch to black....now is the perfect time to do that...

as info, i have 3 quotes in for the new canvas ranging from $3,500 - 4,000.....if anyone wants to know the specifics about the quotes and what i have heard about the different canvas shops send me a PM....don't want to use the forum to spread 'hear say' comments about any of the shops...

thanks for the info....i do not have the filler cushion that turns the dinette into a sleeper....a friend at our dock has a similar boat as mine and has offered to let me use his filler cushion to have one made....sounds like this may be a good job for 'Cathy's Cushions'......

Good luck in your search for canvas. No personal experience but I've heard black is "warm". Looks great though.
