The weather station off off Holland Michigan reported a 79 degree water temp yesterday. Harbor Springs showed 73 degrees. In 40 years of boat on the big lake, I do not remember the off shore water ever being this warm. This could lead to some pretty spectacular lake effect snow falls this winter which would be great for skiing and other winter activities.

On the Western end of Lake Superior, we also have seen the same kind of temps... we had 73 two week's ago...WOW:thumbsup:

I was anchored between Holland and Saugatuck this past Tuesday swimming, and my equipment read 80!! It felt like bath water!!!

Wow, 73 degrees on Superior has to be close to a record! We just spent 2 weeks up on Torch Lake (deep lake just east of Grand Traverse Bay) and the water was 78 degrees on most of the lake. Talking with some of the locals they said they can not remember Torch ever being that warm.

We are headed north out of Whitehall with two boats on the 20th, maybe we will cross paths, We plan to get to Leland the first day if weather cooperates, we are headed to Mackinaw Island coming back on labor day. The warm water sure is great.

Wow - that sounds warm for those lakes. Enjoy!

Surface temperatures at Lake Travis (Austin, Texas) are 88 degrees. We are not expecting much lake effect snow however...

We are going up with a group of boaers from SkipperBud's out of Grand Haven and spending the weekend in Frankfort. Another group of SkipperBud Boaters coming accross from Sturgon Bay, should be a wild weekend. We will go North on Monday. Enjoy Mackinaw, watch out for the Fuggies.

We left Milwaukee w/ water temps at 73 and soon hit 78 16 miles out. The mid lake bouy and our one screen showed 80 degrees! We have never seen anything like it. We started out in Saugatuck and went up the coast w/ the best beach weather ever. On our departure back to MKE we had 79 at mid lake and 74 degrees in Milwaukee. A couple of strong west wind days and we are back dorn to 72 at beach in Milwaukee. What does old man winter have in store for us? Who cares right now lets get the most out of this season!!!! Mike

We had a gorgeous Day yesterday on Lake Michigan, dropped anchor in front of the Little Sable Light house for lunch and a swim. Water temp was around 69 turned a little cooler with the North wind but it was very refreshing.
