We slipped at the Manistee Municipal for about 6 weeks last year. Outstanding staff and a spotless facility. Just an FYI for your arrival, you'll be dealing with about a 3 mph river current when entering the slips. It catches many by surprise when they idle down to enter a slip and the current takes over.
For a side activity, there's a corrugated steel Quonset hut building a block due south of the marina building. It's the workshop of a man that restores antique autos. He collects and restores first model year autos (like 1902 Cadillac was one) and was an incredibly interesting guy to talk with. We just strolled over and showed interest and he let us browse and chat. It's not open for the public but he was accommodating. If you have interest in that kind of thing and the door is open over there, it might be worth your time. There were at least a dozen vehicles in there from fully restored to a pile of parts.
